BJC's Literary Events March 2010 & Beyond


March 4-9 Residency at University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis MN.

March 8 Monday 10-11 am MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO "Midmorning" in-studio live broadcast from 480 Cedar St., St. Paul, MN 55101. Contact 651-290-1170 for more info.

March 8 Monday 7:30 - 9:00 BJC reads as part of ACTC Visiting Writers Series
OEC Auditorium, University of St. Thomas.

March 10-11 National Book Critics Circle Award events. Wednesday 10th 6:00 reading at the New School in NYC (free admission, open to the public); Thursday 11th announcement of winners with reception to follow (admission $40).

March 14 - 19, 2010 --- STORY WEEK, Wednesday 3/17 BJC discussion about writing with students, Thursday 3/18 6 pm, BJC reads at Metro, 3730 N. Clark, Chicago, IL.

March 23 (Tuesday) 4-6 pm visit Katherine Joslin's class "Women Prose Writers"

March 30 (Tuesday), 7:00 pm Reading & Signing, Loutit District Library, 407 Columbus Avenue, Grand Haven MI 49417, 616-842-5560, www.loutitlibrary.org

April 7-10 (2010) AWP Conference BJC reads as part of Southern Review's 75th Anniversary Friday, April 9, 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM, followed by book signing hosted by Tattered Books. (Other Participants are Jeanne Leiby, David Kirby, Sydney Lea, Steve Almond, Jill McCorkle.) Also, Thursday, April 8 hardcover book signing hosted by WSUP (at WSUP booth) at 2:00 - 3:30.

April 11 (2010) Sunday, BJC will emcee the 2010 Community Literary Awards at the Kalamazoo Public Library.

April 13 (Tuesday) Delta Community College, 1961 Delta Road, University Center, MI 48710 (near Bay City, Michigan). Visit Jeff VandeZande's creative writing class, 6:00 pm, followed by a reading at 7:00.

April 14 (2010) Saginaw Valley State University: Class visit: 10:00 - 11:20 am, lunch with students, reading 2:30 - 4:00.

April 17 - Saturday, Michigan Notable Writers dinner in Lansing. BJC will be one of the keynote speakers. Book signing 5:00 - 6:30, ceremony 7:00-8:30

April 19-23 Writers Retreat at Fetzer Institute.

April 25 - Sunday in Detroit, 2-4 pm Downtown Writers Series The Scarab Club located at 217 E. Farnsworth at John R in the heart of the Cultural Center / Wayne State University Campus. The Scarab Club is directly behind the Detroit Institute for the Arts. We have our own free, safe, and close parking area. For Directions(313) 831-1250.

April 28 - 6:00 Reading, Q & A, and discussion at McKay Memorial Library (105 North Webster Street)Augusta, MI 49012-9779. Info at 269 731-4000.

May 7 Dennis LeHane reading in Dowagiac (BJC guest)

May 11 --- Comstock Library reading 7:00 (as part of Michigan Notable Books program)

May 15 -- Ann Arbor Book Festival 3:30-4:30 Publishing Session at the end of the Writer's Conference in Hatcher Graduate Library Room 100 with BJC and other Michigan authors, 5:00 Author's Forum in the same room featuring BJC and Lolita Hernandez, author of Autopsy of an Engine and Other Stories from the Cadillac Plant.

May 18 -- Barbeque at Mozina's house in conjunction with June 1 visit

May 25 (Tuesday) - Otsego Library reading 7:00 pm (as part of Michigan Notable Books program.)

May 26 (Wednesday) - Three Rivers Library reading 7:00 (as part of Michigan Notable Books program.)

June 1, 2010 - 12:45 - 2:30 Visit Andy Mozina's class at Kalamazoo College

June 17-27, 2010 --- Pacific University, Forest Grove, OR, ten-day residency

September 12, Kerrytown Book Festival in Ann Arbor, MI at the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market. BJC's panel, Michigan Lit, will take place in the Kerrytown Concert House at Noon.

September 27 - Oct 4 Residency, Old Dominion University

October 5 Reading at Literary Festival, 33rd annual, Old Dominion University, Virginia writing conference.
